Bold Tendencies

As part of Multi-Story Orchestra’s expanded chamber music series in the Straw Bale Auditorium, Bela Bartok’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion will be presented. It is an exhilarating, virtuosic ensemble piece – the two percussionists play seven instruments between them and, as is characteristic for Bartok, the two pianos are treated as huge percussion instruments. Bartok transforms melodies and patterns from Hungarian folk music into his own modernist musical language between the instruments.
