Ever wanted to go to carnival and not felt like dealing with the crowds at Notting Hill? No fear Soca Sunday is here! Bringing a bite sized slice of Carnival joy to Peckham. Come, do this adults class or bring along the kiddie in your life to the Family Fit class earlier in the day. You will dance, and work out to music from the Caribbean that will really get you going. In between we’ll have arts and crafts for kids, so they can have a chance to get their faces painted or learn to make a costume head-dress.
Soca is a form of music that originated in Trinidad & Tobago during the early ‘70s. Soca was initially developed 1973 in an effort to improve traditional calypso which had lost popularity due to the rise of reggae from Jamaica and soul & funk from USA. It has developed over the last 30 years to become the soundtrack to Carnival.
So come and wind your waist to the jubilant sound of carnival doing a mixture of high intensity, fun filled dance. The classes are low intensity but enough to burn those calories with some dance moves added to the mix.
Adults: Age 12+
